Spintox – Recovery

Recovery:

Now here is one to just straight out confuse you or maybe this will also serve to unravel the truth about how often you should be training and what you should be doing to get the most out of your training.

So here we are, week 2 and if you are spintoxing you might have maybe 4 classes under your belt or maybe even more. As they say, every action has an equal opposite reaction, so for this to be true you should be getting enough recovery to make sure that the 4 classes you did don’t go to waste.

We keep coming back to the 4 class amount because that is approximately the limit of what your body can do at the start without raising your cortisol levels. This would hinder any progress you might see. For those of you who don’t quite know what cortisol is, it is a stress hormone that our bodies produce with any stressful situation. That can range from a fight with a loved one, to a long day at work and even training too much. Here is the issue: if you exercise to de stress from a stressful day and you are not getting enough recovery, then you might just end up doing more damage than good.

But don’t worry we have plenty of ideas to assist you in keeping those stress hormones at bay.

Head-space: this is one of the best apps to come out in recent years and as a long time user I can vouch for the difference it can make to your day. 5 to 10 minutes on this and I feel refreshed and clear mentally.

Sleep: Don’t underestimate how important it is to get 7 hours a night. Not only will your body thank you but you will be much sharper in every aspect. Let’s face it, we all have had one of those night where we tossed and turned only to wake up the next day feeling like we have been hit by a bus.

Stretch and massage: Strength is nothing without flexibility. Your central nervous system will thank you if you take the time to make sure you stretch or grab one of our foam rollers in the reception area and release some of that tension you have gathered throughout the day.
